Pictures + Meet and more
Hello, Dolphins -- the first Coach's communication for the season...
We're all excited that you're back, and it's great to have such a large team -- over 210 I believe! A few things for our 3rd week of the season...
Pictures TODAY -- Team picture at 5pm, Individual pictures before/after. Make sure you are on-site at 4:50pm so we can quickly organize and take our team pictures. Please wear your team suit and pick-up your team t-shirt today and wear them for the pictures. You may wear your team suit for individual pictures.
Make-up Time Trials -- We were able to get many times yesterday, but there are still a few remaining... weather and time permitting, we'll capture Time Trials times today after today's team picture. If they're still outstanding, we'll capture them at Thursday's practices. Reminder, ALL athletes need ALL times (from this season) in order to declare for a meet.
Our 1st meet, Sat 5/10, a home meet -- quite a few things here!
- Declarations... Be sure to declare your swimmer, as Attending or Not. No Declaration requires the board and coaches to confirm whether or not you will actually attend. Please do not assume that a 'No Declare' means you are not attending, Select Not Attending if applicable. If you're still needing times, declare today and then when times are available within the system you can select your preferred events.
- Leaving the meet... IF you need to leave the meet early, please note that on your declaration AND list that in your 'Comments to the Coach'. ALL Athletes (with the exception of the 6&Us) should stay for the duration of the meet, in the event relay changes are needed.
- Events... Athletes are allowed up to 3 individual events and up to 2 relays. Parents/athletes select their going-in preferred events, and the coaches review/confirm those as well as determine the A-B-C relays. This week, most athletes will swim their preferred events, but be advised that Coach (Bob) may change events in the coming weeks to ensure each athlete swims every event (in which they're capable). Be strong and embrace the challenge (or not-preferred)!
- Meet protocol... Be sure to arrive in time for check-in and attend the pre-meet warm-ups... Athletes arriving late and/or missing warm-up will be removed from the 1st set of relays (if applicable) and possibly from the meet entirely. For home meets, check-in is typically 7am for 7:15am WU... (7:30am and 7:45am for away meets) If you are running late, please contact a board member. If your athlete becomes sick, please communicate to the coach as soon as you know.
Weather... it's been a lively last few days, with more to possibly come. Our standard policy is to hold practice unless inclement weather arrives. We appreciate your passion, but you do not need to ask on FB or within an email whether practice is ON... the board / coaches will communicate if a practice is delayed or cancelled. The coaches go off of the 10-mile radar rule for lightning/thunder and the CFISD-related sirens from the adjacent elementary school. Thanks for your understanding!
Practices... have been going well. thank you! Please continue to have your athlete attend their appropriate practice (13&O, 6&U + new 7-8, 7-8 + new 9-10, 9&O). If a need arises that they need to attend another practice, please let a coach know, but these should be on an exception-basis.
We look forward to seeing everyone today at picture, and Go Dolphins!
Coach Bob
