RWB + POND follow-up
June 17th
Hello, Dolphins - I am receiving a number of (good) questions on the Invitational meets... Let's see if I can help. Here are some responses:
- YES, athletes can swim at both RWB and POND. In fact, that's pretty common. For those athletes (families), you'll have to juggle the 2 meets and meet timelines, and 2 locations, to ensure it works. As mentioned, here's the format for the 2 meets:
- RWB - 11&O 100s Fri, 11&O events Sat, 10&U events Sun (at Fleet)
- POND - Free / Back Sat, Fly / Breast / IM Sun (all ages, at CFISD Nat)
- YES, times reached at Sat's dual meet count towards the RWB/POND meets. If your athlete reaches a new QT, declare your swimmer for that meet and event Sat evening...
- Athletes with POND times in certain events may NOT swim those events in relays at RWB. For example, a swimmer with a 25/50 free POND time is NOT able to swim the 100/200 free relay (or the free leg in the Medley). An athlete COULD however swim another stroke in a RWB relay, even with a POND free time.
- Athletes do NOT have to have RWB/POND QT's to swim in a relay... In fact, it's possible we might reach to a family or 2 to finish-out a particular relay.
- YES, we can send the exact same relay to both RWB and POND. Typically, our relays swim at only 1 meet, but it's possible we could double-up.
- Athletes achieving a POND time at the RWB meet are NOT eligible to swim that same event at POND. For example, if an 11&O achieves a POND time in fly at RWB on Sat, he/she may NOT swim that fly event at POND on Sun.
If you have additional questions, keep those coming!
We'll see you poolside, Coach Bob
